Superintendent Horne’s Arts Education Initiative
Background
In his 2004 State of Education speech, Superintendent Horne stated:
"We must enrich every student with a thorough exposure to the arts. A student who has not been taught the deeper forms of beauty has not received an education. And numerous studies have shown that students involved in the arts actually perform better in other academic subjects."
The Arizona Department of Education has made arts education part of its comprehensive curriculum initiative as outlined in Superintendent Horne's State of Education speech.
